"Living Stone," by Grant Romney Clawson
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints should not have any trouble linking
together Grant Romney Clawson's painting, "Living Stone," and Gutzon Borglum's monumental
sculptures on Mount Rushmore.
In 1877, Wilford Woodruff was President of the St. George, Utah Temple when Thomas Jefferson and
the other signers of the Declaration of Independence appeared to him and said: "You have had the
use of the Endowment House for a number of years, and yet nothing has ever been done for us. We
laid the foundation of the government you now enjoy and we never apostatized from it, but we
remained true to it and were faithful to God."
At once, President Woodruff was baptized for them and for George Washington, Abraham Lincoln,
and other worthy United States Presidents.
In all, 100 eminent men and women had their Temple work done for them by President Woodruff and
others.
"Living Stone" depicts Jesus Christ, creator of all things and Savior to the world; the Prophet Joseph
Smith, foreordained to restore the original church of Jesus Christ to the earth; President Brigham
Young, who brought the persecuted Saints out of harms way to a safe haven in the Salt Lake Valley;
and President Gordon B
. Hinckley, who for a lifetime truly helped to strengthen the Church and build
many temples.
All these men are tied together in the building of Christ's true gospel, known to the world as The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints.
"The Foolish Virgins"
Two artists, who lived 150 years apart, unit
e to create a virtual painting masterpiece; one of the
most beautiful art pieces ever conceived with the profound biblical meaning: "The Foolish Virgins."

Originally painted in color by Auguste Gendron, award winning French artist of the mid - 1800s,
only a black and white photogravure is known today.

Now, Grant Romney Clawson, renowned artist and muralist for The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints has originated his concept of color onto this piece in minute detail and
transformed Mr. Gendron's Masterpiece into an exquisite phenomenon.
